Don't be surprised, for you are only one among around half a billion people across the world, for whom the word and the artiste are synonymous with each other. Yes, the man in question is none other than legend himself the great Jagjit Singh.
Jagjit Singh, born on 8th february 1941 at Sriganganagar in Rajasthan to Sardar Amar Singh Dhiman and Sardarni Bachchan Kaur.
He went to Khalsa High School at Sriganganagar Government College, Sriganganagar and Dav College, Jalandhar. He also acquired a post graduate degree in history from Kurukshetra University, Haryana. After learning music from various maestros, he came to city of dreams Mumbai in the year 1965 in search of a career in music.
